A 40 year- old man is fighting for his life following a serious road traffic accident between Minishant and Maybole.

The crash victim was travelling south on the A77 last Tuesday, September 3, when his blue Ford Fiesta collided with a north- bound single decker bus.

It was the second time in a week the main artery south was shut.

The driver of the car was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries, where his condition is described as “critical.”

The driver of the coach was uninjured but has been left badly shaken by the incident.
