Ramblers head for West Highland Way

-

This Saturday, September 21, Ayr & District Rambling Club are organising a 7.5- mile circular walk starting and finishing in the ( free) public car park in Balmaha.

The walk will follow a pavement along a quiet country road before taking a farm track to join the West Highland Way and lead steadily up the south- east side of Conic Hill to its summit ( 350m), from where ( weather permitting) it is hoped to enjoy wonderful views over Loch Lomond.

From the top of Conic Hill, the route descends to the car park. Some sections of the WHW may be muddy and gaiters are recommended. For further details, contact Gordon or Liz Brown on 01292 441455. To join the walk, please meet at 8.20am at the Millbrae car park in Ayr.

The following morning, Sunday September 22, in a change to their published programme, South Ayrshire Ramblers will offer a six- or eight- mile walk starting from the car park at the entrance to Auchincruive ( across from the John Niven Building). The route will follow paths round Auchincruive and round Annbank to Tarholm Bridge, where it will join the River Ayr Way as far as Wallaces Seat.

The walk then leaves the River Ayr Way and follows a track to Oswald’s Bridge, before joining another track back to the start. For more details, contact Mattie Templeton on 01292 570529. To join the walk, please meet at Prestwick Town railway station car park at 8.50am.
