-

A man was placed under a curfrew after admitting a series of thefts from vehicles in Ayr.

Jamie McConnell, aged 24, of Argyle Park, Ayr, appeared at the town’s sheriff court on Tuesday, September 10.

He admitted forcing open vehicles in Kyle Street, Ayr, on March 24 and April 17 this year and stealing items such as a saw, an electrical device and paperwork.

Defence solicitor John Gallagher said: “It was a drinking binge with friends that led him to committing this offence, there was recovery of a number of items.”

Sheriff Desmond Leslie imposed a restriction of liberty order which requires McConnell to be within his home address between 8pm and 6am each day for the next five months.

He is also under supervision for the next 12 months.

McConnell was also fined £ 989, payable at £ 50 per month.
