The couple recently presented cheques for £ 1,000 each to the transplant unit at Edinburgh Infirmary and to Collette Thain of the PBC Foundation.

A further £ 200 raised at a tribute night at Cairnryan Park for Mary’s brothers Johnny and Alex was also donated to a cancer charity.

Mary added: “We’d really like to thank everyone who supported us by making a donation of money or prizes for a raffle and auction that we had at Ian’s birthday.

“We’re delighted that we’ve been able to give something back.”
