Liquid lunch costs driver dear

A 32- year- old man was caught more than double the drink drive limit after enjoying a boozy lunch in Ayr.

Sean Aitchison, of Springhill Road, Shotts, was snared after a member of the public saw him get into his work van on May 14 while being under the influence.

He was caught on Holmston Road, Ayr with 47 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, exceeding the limit of 22.

Sheriff Desmond Leslie told him: “You know the consequences of this- you’ve already been disqualified from driving for a similar offence back in 2008.”

He was fined £ 400 and disqualified from driving for two years.
