Knife raid terror at McColl’s in Ayr

A shopkeeper was left terrified after an armed robber pulled out a knife at a convenienc­e store in Ayr and demanded money.

The shocking incident happened at around 6.15am last Tuesday when the unknown man entered the McColl’s store in Content Street, Ayr.

The hood pulled out a knife and demanded money from the shopkeeper.

The man then ran out of the store in the direction of Gordon Street.

But it’s not been confirmed if any cash was taken.

The man is described as being young, white Scottish, slim build wearing a dark baseball cap, dark jacket with white stripes on the cuff, dark jogging bottoms and trainers.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg of Ayr CID said: “Thankfully no- one was injured but it was an alarming and distressin­g experience for the shopkeeper and we are actively looking to identify the man involved. I am appealing for informatio­n from anyone in the area.”
