Italian treat at WI meeting

The first meeting of the season for Dalrymple SWI was held on September 2 in Dalrymple Church Hall.

The president, Sheila Dunlop, welcomed all members with the hope that everyone had enjoyed the summer before they began by singing the Rural Song. Sheila then introduced Lindsay Guidi, of HomeCook School, who gave a wonderful demonstrat­ion of ‘ Italy meets Ayrshire’.

Using locally sourced ingredient­s, she creates the classic Italian dish of carbonara.

Lindsay was a an entertaini­ng speaker and told them about her career change from drama lecturer to her new firm.

Jane Cook gave a vote of thanks on behalf of us all.

They then enjoyed sampling Lindsay’s dish.

Sheila thanked everyone who had entered the Ayr County Show. No prizes were received but they had acquitted themselves well.

They were then given a precis of all the federation- sponsored classes to be held in the 2019/ 20 season, which members were encouraged to attend.

The competitio­ns for the evening were : ‘ An Apple Dessert’ and the winners were 1st Mattie Templeton 2nd Sheila Dunlop 3rd Elizabeth Easton.

‘ My most useful kitchen gadget’. Winners were 1st equal Mattie Templeton & Mary Dale 2nd Maureen Stewart 3rd Sheila Dunlop.
