Marwills jet in
A top Canadian rock band - tipped for future superstardom - are heading for Ayr.
Toronto based outfit The Marwills play The Twa Dugs next Wednesday as part of a UK wide tour.
The five- piece outfit have been described as “a thick, juicy cut of rock- stuffed with blues – and covered in Grade A Canadian dirt”.
Already a headline act in North America, their UK tour is designed as a launch pad to raising their profile this side of “the pond”.
Their record company and management are already predicting a big future for the band’s original “gusty blues” sound.
Twa Dugs owner Bob Shields reckons the booking is a huge compliment to the pub’s growing reputation for live music.
He said: “We understand the band were looking for small, intimate venues for their breakthrough tour. Their promoter made a few calls and kept hearing the name “Twa Dugs”
“They tracked us down via Facebook and we were delighted to accept. It’s usually the venue who search for bands – this time it’s the other way round! We felt obliged to point out the pub’s policy of NEVER charging for live music – we’ve never taken a penny at the door in 11 years and weren’t about to change. I think the band loved the concept – and made them more determined to head to Ayr! It’s also our first ever “live” Wednesday night, so we’ve asked them to play 8pm to 11pm .
Bob is hoping it will be a great chance to see and hear a band that’s on the brink of bigger things.
