Hotel owners put an end to sewer row

-

A hotel has paid to put an end to a sewer dispute.

Last week Scott Munro, Bradan Road, accused The Anchorage in Troon. of causing a sewage flood in his front garden.

But the hotel has now paid for plans which show their drains go away from Scott’s house.

Anchorage owner Trevor Lee said: “We have positively reacted to the complainer, going to the expense, of obtaining the plans of the hotel and neighbours drains, something available to others if they were prepared to pay the costs.

“The plans show that their drain is just a garden drain so it’s likely heavy rain that week would have caused it to flood.

“Our drains have been there for 200 years, long before the houses.

“And a Scottish Water technician came out last week and confirmed the problem isn’t coming from us.”

Scott Munro wanted the Anchorage to pay for his garden to be repaired after it was flooded with waste last month.

The 47- year- old had to rip apart his decking after a disgusting stench permeated from below.

And he said Scottish Water identified that the problem led to the hotel.

But plans obtained by the Anchorage Hotel were shown to the Post this week.

And they show the hotel’s drains come out at the front of the venue, unconnected to Bradan Road.

A Scottish Water spokesman said: “Investigations are still ongoing to establish the cause of this issue.”
