First autumn meet of SWI
The first Autumn meeting of Symington ( South Ayrshire) SWI was held last week.
The first speaker was Mr Ian Thomson, who has an extremely interesting job. He is a driver to the well- known, and immediately, the first person he spoke about was Princess Diana, who, he said, loved children, and in her generous way gave the people who worked on her behalf lovely gifts. Mr Thomson has also driven other personalities, for instance, Pope John Paul II when he visited Edinburgh and Glasgow ( Bellahouston Park) in 1982, where he addressed more than 300,000 people. In 2010, Mr Thomson drove the President of Uganda to and from a “Heads of Commonwealth” meeting. This is just a small sample.
His work continues and he is fully booked until May.
