Prove me wrong and start do good things for the community

-

Just days after I moaned about the lack of action on Ayr’s proposed new leisure centre –

SAC announce there has been some action after all. Woohoo!

I welcome the purchase of the old Hourstons – and welcomed it even more when I heard the cash wasn’t coming directly from South Ayrshire’s coffers.

I did enjoy the quote from a “senior insider” who told The Post “Nobody wants to see

Hourstons rotting in the centre of our High Street”.

Well, nobody wanted to see Belleisle House Hotel rotting for ten years . . . or the Station

Hotel rotting for five.

But maybe SAC have actually learned something in the interval.

SAC need to start doing things – good things – to get any crumb or credibility back.

Why not leave our Common Good land at Seafield and the Low Green alone for the timebeing – and get those “good things” up and running.

A new travel hub at the old Ayr Station and a new leisure complex off the High Street would be two really good things.

I want to think positively – but something tells me that Hourstons will still be rotting awayfor another year at least.

And I’d love SAC to prove me wrong.
