More cops to tackle break- ins

East Ayrshire police have launched an operation with an extra focus on housebreaking and vehicle crime.

Additional officers have been seconded to the area’s priority policing team from Monday.

They will work under the banner of Operation Stickrail.

Area commander Steven Meikle said: “Housebreaking and vehiclerelated crime can be particularly distressing and can have a devastating impact on victims.

“We have identified a recent rise in this type of crime and are therefore dedicating additional officers to work with communities and our partners to identify those involved and to bring them to justice.”
