The offence occurred on May 12 and May 13, both dates inclusive, at Glenshamrock Drive, Auchinleck.
Millin also pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in Quarry Knowe, Auchinleck, on August 25 this year.
The court was told the victim locked her property’s door before Millin warned her: “If you don’t come out I will burn you alive.”
Millin then went back to his address, found pieces of catalogue paper and used them in an attempt to set fire to the victim’s home.
In another incident, he seen running through a garden andofficers later traced him and found a knife in his possession.
Millin was jailed for seven and a half months.
