Time to listen to the people

-

Following the recent Leadership Panel Meeting, councillor Philip Saxton isreported to have said that ‘ These are all the same serial objectors that won’t allow us to do anything’.

Given his recent outburst in the Press recently in connection with our Community Council’s objection to the demolition of the Wallacetown High Flats, I assume that councillor Saxton is referring to the Fort Seafield and Wallacetown Community Council among others.

He appears to brand the various community groups as ‘ Luddites’ wishing to block everything.

Our Community Council is endeavouring to represent the community by responding to the comments received from ratepayers and the electorate.

South Ayrshire Council ( SAC), despite their election assurances, do not listen to the electorate, but push their Marxist way of controlling everything and consulting no- one.

SAC stumbles from one ‘ wrecking ball’ project to another, with all the decisions made behind closed doors.

In the two issues that concern councillor Saxton at the moment

- the High Flats and the proposed Golf Academy, he and his colleagues should have scrutinized official reports thoroughly and opened up to proper public consultation. This is called community participation!

This is why the community in general are crying out against the handling of our affairs by the current regime.

Norman McLean, chairman Fort, Seafield & Wallacetown Community Council has been completely neglected and is now overgrown with weeds etc. This area would make an ideal Academy site without disrupting anything or anyone. I know that the land is owned by Prestwick Airport but surely some reasonable deal could be done. These are the thoughts of a fairly ancient retired golfer.
