Craig McEwan admits he is devastated after legend keeper Brian McGarrity announced he was quitting due to injury.

The Glenafton shot stopper has been forced to retire only one game short of 200 appearances.

And boss McEwan says it’s a choker for everyone at the New Cumnock club.

McEwan revealed: “I am distraught as not only has Brian been an excellent servant to the Glens but I have made a friend.”

And he told him: “Don’t be a stranger mate. I hope you are about the place to allow me to keep pestering you to return.”

McGarrity, who joined Glens in 2013 after spells with Annbank and Auchinleck, starred as they won the league and Scottish Cup in 2016- 17.

A Dale Moore hat- trick and doubles from Cammy Marlow, Ryan Nisbet and Findlay Frye helped Glens crush West Calder 13- 0. Craig Pettigrew, Kyle McAusland, Dan Orsi and an OG rounded off the scoring. On Saturday, Glens host Beith.

AUCHINLECK head to leaders Pollok, trailing the Newlandsfield men by 13 points but with five games in hand. Mark Shankland ( 2), Bryan Boylan ( 2), Dwayne Hyslop, Craig McCracken and Keir Samson scored in a 7- 0 win at Bellshill.

TROON beat Montrose Roselea 3- 1 at Portland Park but not without a scare after Dean Keenan’s deflected shot was cancelled out with 20 minutes to go.

A Ryan Stevenson penalty and a late goal from Mark Morrison saw them safely into Monday’s third round draw.

GIRVAN head to Tayport for a replay after an astonishing 5- 5 draw at Hamilton Park.

New signing Lee McClymont from Annbank marked his home town club debut with a double as Girvan took a 3- 1 lead with Craig Harvey also on target.

The visitors struck three times before Alex Bell levelled. Steven Currie then edged Girvan ahead only for Tayport to strike at the death. ANNBANK and WHITLETTS try again after New Pebble Park was waterlogged while CRAIGMARK bid for second time lucky at home to Kilsyth.

KELLO, who are rock bottom of League One, left behind that miserable form to stun Championship side Irvine Vics 3- 0.

Liam Fleming’s early strike was followed by a second- half double from Mark Armour. Kello hope that can be a springboard for Saturday’s trip to Maryhill.

LUGAR, who beat Newmachar 3- 0, resume League Two life away to Newmains.

MUIRKIRK, beaten 2- 0 by Blantyre Vics, hope to keep on the title trail with a trip to struggling MAYBOLE who lost 4- 0 at home to Yoker in the only league game played.
