Troon Friends of Kalimpong are holding a Coffee Morning in Troon Old Parish Church Hall on Saturday October 5 from 10am to noon.

This is a fundraiser for Dr Graham’s Homes. All welcome.

The first meeting of the Autumn/ Winter session of Troon Ladies’ Lunch Club will be held in the . Piersland House Hotel on Wednesday October 9 at 12.30pm. Please note this is the second Wednesday of the month. The meetings will revert to the first Wednesday of the month thereafter. Those ladies wishing to attend should contact Sheila Webster on 314924.

Troon Foodbank is open weekly in Room 2 Troon Old Parish Church on Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 2pm.

Tins of meat, fish, vegetables long life milk and juices will be very much appreciate­d. Essential toiletries are always in high demand.

The 20th Ayrshire Real Ale Festival will take place in Troon Concert Hall from October 3 to October 5 Over 18s only. Entertainm­ent will be provided on the following dates – Thursday Night – Border Reivers and

Morris Dancers. Friday Night – Big Slinky. Saturday Night – Pipe Band.

There will be over 160 different ales and 20 real ciders to sample. Wine and food. Details of entry fees – ayrshirebe­erfestival.co. uk.

Scottish Country Dancing resumes on Thursday September 26 at 7.30pm in Troon Primary School. The cost is £ 5 per night. New dancers very welcome to come along and enjoy the fun and friendship. Seascape Befriendin­g Group – Feeling lonely in need of a chat and company? The Befriendin­g Group will welcome you on Friday mornings in St Meddan ‘ s Church Hall at 10am. Coffee and a hot roll with sausage are on offer free of charge.

A FoodBank container is permanentl­y available in the Foyer of Troon Library. Donations of dry foods and tinned foods very welcome.

The Wild West Show comes to Troon Concert Hall on Sunday October 20.

It will be performed by Funbox and has all the singalong yeehaw silliness you would expect from Anya, Kevin, Gary and Bonzo. Bonzo used to be in the Singing Kettle before it ran out of steam.

Tickets are £ 14, family £ 50.

Krista Donnelly and Amanda Gemmell are the new musical directors for Carols at Christmas with the Marr Cappella Choir. Rehearsals are underway for the concerts at Portland Church on Wednesday December 11 and St Meddans the following night. The 2019 charities are Lupus UK and the local foodbank.

An appeal against the refusal to hand over Muirhead Activity Centre to Dundonald Gymnastics Club will be heard next month. The community has already thwarted the takeover of the centre, which will mean almost all groups being no longer able to use it.

Councillor Phil Saxton revealed: “Ultimately this could end up before the full Council for a final decision. “
