She then scooped silver in the final with a time of 19.46 seconds but now she’s going for gold.

Kayleigh told the Post: “I’ve been working really hard since early last year hoping to be selected. I’m so honoured to be selected to represent Great Britain for the second time – its up there as one of my greatest achievements so far.

“I’ve been really enjoying watching the World Championships in Doha and I just can’t wait for it to be me on the start line.

“I just want to enjoy the experience, grow as an athlete and hopefully come away with a personal best time – I can’t really ask for anything more than that.

“But it’s really exciting – I honestly can’t wait.”

Kayleigh and rivals use adaptive racing trikes to get down the track.

The first race runner was constructed in Denmark in 1991 but this is the first time the sport will appear at the World Championships.

Kayleigh’s family will be watching and cheering her on from home.

But for the first time her coach Janice won’t be there after she passed away in July.

Kayleigh was devastated but now she’s just hoping to make her proud.

She added: “Janice passed away unexpectedly earlier this year and it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with so I just want to do my best for her.

“She coached me and my teammate Gavin Drysdale, who is selected. We both just want to make her proud.”
