Have a right chuckle with Martin

The son of legendary TV magician Paul Daniels, Martin harboured ambitions to become a performer from a young age.

And you can see if the major has been handed down a generation as Martin comes to the Palace Theatre Stage in Kilmarnock on Friday October 25.

He is the Martin Daniels Comedy and Magic Show, captivatin­g audiences with his “uproarious sense of humour, charming personalit­y and consummate magical skill.”

At the age of 17, he took the plunge on a career in show business, making his debut in a summer season in Newquay.

He didn’t have to wait long to be thrust into the limelight as Game for a Laugh, one of Britain’s biggest TV programmes of the 1980s chose Martin as one of the presenters in the final two series of the practical joke show hosted by Jeremy Beadle.

Still in his early twenties, Martin was catapulted to stardom in a show that received over 17 million viewers.

Promoters Gizgig say: “Martin’s unique blend of magic and comedy has proven incredibly popular with audiences across the UK and we are extremely proud to be working with him.”

Martin’s TV career continued in earnest and he went on to host ITV game show, Lingo and became a presenter on CITV.

Next came five series on the BBC’s BAFTA nominated Les Dennis’ Laughter Show interspers­ed with appearance­s on various TV shows both in the UK and abroad.

The stage has always been a second home to Martin and he has toured with performers of the calibre of Jane McDonald, Lenny Henry, Les Dennis and MC Hammer, as well as making five appearance­s on The Royal Variety Performanc­e.

One of his biggest appearance­s to date was taking part in the VE Day Concert in Hyde Park attended by the Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne and Princess Margaret, plus an audience of 150,000 others.

Martin is also a published author, having penned a book entitled Cunning Stunts – The 50 Best Pub Tricks and Brain Teasers.

In recent times, he demonstrat­ed his magical ability in a special guest appearance with his Father Paul Daniels on ITV’s Penn & Teller: Fool Us, managing to bamboozle the great illusionis­ts themselves.

This show has played to sell out audiences all over the world.
