The Troon side went to the summit with a 43- 15 thumping of Hawick on Saturday.

The victory was only the second ever from a Marr side at Mansfield Park.

They welcome Selkirk to Fullarton this Saturday bidding to maintain the run.

Marr’s 1st XV continued their great start to the season with a thumping win at the historic home of Hawick as they returned with victory from Mansfield Park.

The men in purple and gold went top of the Tennent’s Premiership with the win, which was enjoyed by a small band of travelling fans.

The momentum was with the visitors after two home players were sin binned in the first half in quick succession.

Marr quickly took advantage with three tries and rarely looked back from there.

Iosefo Turaga was first on the scoresheet for the Troon side before the yellow cards came.

Marr were then awarded a penalty try and with Hawick town to 13, Marr quickly capitalised as Richard Dalgleish and Gregor Paxton ran in long rage scores as they outpaced the sparse defence.

Marr added two more tires to gain a match winning lead as Turaga claimed his second before Conor Bickerstaff then added to the lead with a great individual break that sliced through the defence.

Hawick finally bagged two tries in the final quarter but it was a classic case of too little too late.

The 2nd XV bounced back from the previous week’s narrow defeat away to Stirling with a bonus point win away against Cartha.

It was far from an ideal start for Marr as their captain and influential back row player Josh Evans was forced to retire through injury with less than five minutes on the clock.

But tries came from Chris Galloway, Kyle Vallance, Callum Steel and Issac Rennucci in a 22- 8 win.

The 3rd XV blitzed Dalziel, rattling in five tries before any reply.

Scorers were Craig Starkey ( 3), Sean Duff, Euan McGerty, Scott Grant, Stephen Beveridge ( 2), Adam McPherson and Roddy McIntyre.
