Kids find their mummy dead in the house

- RYAN CARROLL AND SARAH HILLEY

Neighbours told this week how a young mum- of- two was found dead in her home by her children.

Kirsty Robertson, 29, was discovered in her home in Fulshaw Place, Dalmilling, on Sunday, October 20.

On Thursday police officers sealed off her house after a post mortem examination said her death was being treated as unexplained.

Neighbours say police then began carrying out a forensic sweep on the street.

Officers conducted a finger tip search and carried out door- todoor enquiries.

On Friday a police car remained stationed at the property as they continued their investigations.

By Monday a dozen floral tributes had been laid and the ground floor windows boarded up. Neighbours and friends have been left in the dark in regards to the focus of the police enquiries.

Residents in her street told the Post that Kirsty was partying in her house with friends the night before her death.

One neighbour said: “I couldn’t believe it when I was told she was found dead.

“I didn’t know her that well but you would always see her walking about with her two young kids.

“Apparently she was partying on Saturday night with a boy and a girl but I don’t know what happened.

“I heard that the police came that night to address a noise complaint but then left. It’s really strange, no one knows any more than that.”

Another neighbour, who was a friend of Kirsty, said: “We don’t know anything. We haven’t been told anything, I literally don’t have a clue what’s going on.

“I went to lay flowers earlier and the police still won’t tell us anything. I just wish they would let us know what this is all about.”

On Monday, the Ayrshire Post continued to try to establish the focus of police investigations.

But a Police Scotland statement remained: “At around 11.30am on Sunday, October 20, a 29- year- old woman was found dead within a house at Fulshaw Place, Ayr.

“Following a post mortem examination, the death is being treated as unexplained and further forensic tests are being carried out. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”

Funeral arrangements are yet to be made.

Kirsty has two young children. Friend Samantha Hart has set up a JustGiving page to help pay for her funeral.

Samantha said: “Kirsty, as many people will know, was an absolute diamond of a girl and an amazing mum to her two kids who meant the world to her.

“She had no immediate family, all she had was her two young kids, so I set this up for anyone to help so Kirsty can get the send off she deserves.

“She was far too young and had her whole life ahead of her. It’s devastating, especially for her two kids, so we want to make sure she gets an amazing send off.

“No matter how little, it all helps.”

Over £ 2350 has already been raised towards a £ 3000 target.
