A day out for heroes

Comics were the Playstatio­ns of their day.

But now some of the superhero characters enjoyed by millions of comic readers have stepped out of those pages into the real and digital worlds.

The Killie Comic Con takes over the Dick Institute on Saturday November 16.

Events are running side- by - side and include the Superhero in Training for eight to 12- year- olds.

F r o m 1 0 . 1 5 a m - 11.15am ordinary kids will be tasked with taking on the role of their heroes.

Under the guidance of Superhero mentor, Michaella Blond Skull Crusher, who’s trained everyone from zombie fighters to roller- skating cats, talents will be nurtured.

A resident Quiz Master, who knows everything from the intricate difference­s between Deadpool and Cinderella, will be asking the questions.

At just £ 1 an hour between 10.30am3.30pm Killie Comic Con put on Retro Games.

A Ma r i o K a r t tournament on the Wii, alongside other classic games and consoles feature prizes for the top three competitor­s.

This is for kids five and above.

A free but bookable Bookbug Superhero is for aged 0- 4 from 10.15am- 10.45am.

Prizes will be give for the best superhero costumes.

Graffiti art workshops for teens to adults take place most of the day and the cost is £ 8.50 including paints and materials.

When Stan Lee died graffiti artist EJEK aka Dan McDermott, created a mural in tribute for him.

EJEK’s been painting graffiti for almost 20 years mainly in the Glasgow area.

Scott Wallace will be hosting caricature workshops from 11am3pm. The artist and illustrato­r shows how easy it is to create your own caricature.

Scott is a popular and much sought after local artist, who has a wealth of experience at his fingertips.
