Craig camps it up for a night of laughter

- STEPHEN HOUSTON

Ayr is the final calling for comedian Craig Hill’s new 17date Scottish tour.

So you would expect the comic campster’s act to have reached perfection.

His ‘ Bottoms Up’ show comes to The Gaiety on Saturday March 28.

The kilted performer is not everyone’s cup of tea. And this fruity fun night is for the over 18’ s only.

But the bold boy keeps selling out venue after venue . . . and this is his 21st show. So he’s firmly got what it takes to entertain.

As his promoter says: “This is one fun mixer that will keep you fizzy all the way to the bottom.

“Fresh from making his New York Off- Broadway solo debut, Craig is in the pink this year, channelling his best Bertie Bassett, turning 50 shades of gay and proving it takes Allsorts to make the world go round in his bubbly, fun new show.”

Craig’s first public success came at age ten when he won a talent contest in his native East Kilbride, impersonating Cleo Laine.

The two- hour Ayr show has tickets pegged at between just £ 14.50 and £ 16.50 so a real value night out.

His promoter adds: “Craig’s razorsharp improvisation and his unsurpassed audience rapport combine brilliantly for a unique and pure unadulterated fun.”

Firmly established as one of Scotland’s best- loved comedians and hosts, Craig has sold out across 20 consecutive Edinburgh Festival Fringes.

A past winner of the Radio Forth Fringe Award, his extensive sellout UK and worldwide tours include annual comedy festival seasons in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

He has performed at London’s Palladium, hosted a specially created alternative variety show Craig Hill’s Forbidden Vaudeville for Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber and was UK Ambassador for the inaugural Montreaux Comedy Festival’s Joke Nation.

He won the recent UK series of Impossible Celebrities and has numerous

BBC TV series to his name.

His international TV credits include Australia’s Good News Week, hosting Sydney Comedy Festival’s prestigious Cracker Night gala and storming Montreal’s all- alumni showcase The Best Of Just For Laughs as well as hosting their all- star Britcom lineup.

Get your tickets at the Gaiety Box Office on 01292 288 235 or online.
