Udderly successful
A third year pupil had an udderly successful 2019 as he scooped several titles and awards to add to his expanding trophy cabinet.
Belmont Academy pupil Rory Scott picked up the British National Holstein Young Breeders Stockjudging competition, on top of the British National Holstein Young Breeders Reason Giving competition- both of which were held in Wales.
The talented teen then went on to be crowned the champion junior handler at the Scottish Calf Show and won the West of Scotland Junior Showmanship Award.
And he scooped second place as a member of the clipping team at the National Holstein Young Breeders Field to Photo competition- pulling up the Scottish team to third overall.
Rory was the fifth junior handler at the All Britain competition in October ( where his team came first overall) and he also won the dairy showmanship at the Royal Highland Show.
Not only did the teen receive various accolades, he was also able to sell his award winning calf for a top price of £ 10,500.
He sold the animal after rearing it since it came into his possession - during which time it won both the Scottish Calf Show and Reserve overall champion calf for the whole of Britain.
Rory’s efforts earned him a nomination for the Little Star Award at the All Britain Show, where he broke into the top five.
And as a result of his eminent list of achievements, Rory was awarded with the Most Accomplished Young Member of the Year at the Scottish Holstein Club AGM.
