What’s up Doc?
No carrots - that’s what! Glen Michael took his favourite cartoon character, Bugs Bunny, to help him open the new- look Save the Children Shop in Newmarket Street, Ayr on Saturday.
Helping him wield the scissors to cut the ribbon were shop supervisors Mrs Irene Grant and Mrs Audrey Kidd.
The charity shop has been in Newmarket Street for a decade, but needed refitting after being flood damaged from a pipe burst two years ago.
A spokeswoman said: “It was very kids of Glen to agree to this.”

This assurance along with another regarding the National Coal Board workshops at Lugar, was given by Chairman Lord Robens. It came in a letter to Jim Sillars, Labour Candidate.

The Late Mr Ivie Auld
In Mr Ivie Auld there has passed away a familiar and respected figure.
The deceased was a native of Dalmellington and served his apprenticeship as a blacksmith with the Dalmellington Iron Company, following thereby in the footsteps of his father, the late Mr William Auld.
All his working life was passed in the employment of the company and strangely enough, the start of his last illness synchronised with the start of the strike.
