U-turn needed

- Laurie Reid, Ayr

I have been a season ticket holder since 1977 in the South Ayrshire Golf Courses.

I would like to make two main points about the golf. It is now time that tee times got back to 7/8 time intervals.

The second point I would like to make is about cancelling times. If I was unable to play I have always cancelled times either online on the present or a previous system or by telephone. Not so long ago you could even cancel times at the clubhouse for someone if they could no longer join you. When the new season tickets were started in April, South Ayrshire Golf said you had to cancel times no later than two hours before your tee time otherwise they would take £5 off your account. This is absolutely ridiculous. I actually cancelled a time just before this started about just over an hour and a half before our tee time. I cancelled for two reasons. The first one was because one of the players was no longer going to play with us on Seafield and the two of us were going to join another two friends on Belleisle. The second one was because it was wet in the morning and the forecast had it clearing up after midday. Our original time was 12.10pm and the later one was at 1pm. It turned out the weather was better by then.

Also, my friend recently cancelled our 2pm time one morning about 9.30am because the forecast was not good. It actually turned out ok. If we had waited until about till 1.30 pm we would have almost certainly have gone since the weather turned out fine.

South Ayrshire need to change their policy on tee off times and listen season ticket holders and club members.

Too many problems have arisen recently and many people have been very annoyed by their attitude.
