We are driving forward our regeneration

-

The past year has seen a period of change for the council and us all, as we deal with COVID and its effects in daily lives and business.

It has brought out the best in us and there are numerous examples of individuals and groups pulling together to help.

I want to express my thanks to all who have stepped forward.

In particular I want to thank sincerely all council staff who have worked above and beyond, in order that our services have been maintained and improved. Adapting to home working, being innovative, developing new procedures ensuring that no one was left behind. From ensuring business support and individual grant payments and assistance have been delivered as fast as possible to making sure waste services have been maintained.

Providing Health and Social Care and supporting voluntary groups and organisations.

As we recover from the pandemic the council is bringing forward new support measures and driving forward its agenda for change and regeneration.

These policies and programmes all have climate change imbedded as we must address this with urgency.

We can all make a difference, we live in a beautiful area and society must come together to keep it that way.

We can all take responsibility for our litter and dog waste.

The council does not drop litter but has to spend scarce resources clearing up the mess by the small minority who think it’s someone else’s job.

I would ask all to shop local and support our businesses and farmers in order that they prosper for our future.

The council is often the easy target for criticism (often for things we have no control over), we don’t get everything right, but we are listening and engaging with the communities.

The council tries at all times to live up to its motto“Ner Forget the People”, that is ALL the people and make a difference every day for the people of South Ayrshire.
