Barcloses afterone staffhas Covid-19
One of Ayr’s most popular bars and restaurants is to close for the rest of this week after a positive case of coronavirus.
Arthur Street Bar and Kitchen (ASK) shut its doors to customers to protect the ‘welfare of staff and their families’.
The town-centre venue is closed until Monday, July 5 after one member of staff was confirmed to have contracted COVID-19.
Bar bosses have told how all staff have had PCR tests but the majority of the team are still required to selfisolate until midnight on July 4 as close contacts.
The staff member who tested positive has been isolating at home and did not work at the weekend.
Arthur Street Kitchen shared the news on their Facebook page.
Customers have been advised to cancel their bookings at the venue.
A statement reads: “Due to a single member of our team testing positive for COVID-19, and [having] spoken to NHS tracing team today, we are now closed until Monday, July 5 for the welfare of the staff and their families.
“All staff have had PCR tests but the majority of the team are still required to isolate until midnight on July 4 as close contacts.
“At this time NHS Test & Protect are happy with all procedures in place that are above and beyond current guidance and the risk is low as the staff member did not work all weekend and we all acted quickly.
“While we are closed, cleaning teams will be in as you have seen in other venues, and we will be maintaining the higher standard of sanitisation that you have all experienced while in Arthur Street Kitchen and we will be back again very soon.
“We have staff working through bookings but if you have booked online from now until Sunday please cancel if possible. The phone is currently not manned but a divert will be in place.”
