New gaffer Ryan is delighted to be making his Mark

- WEST OF SCOTLAND ROUND UP WITH MIKE WILSON

Rookie boss Ryan Caddis is loving his first crack at management after back to back wins and eight goals scored.

But the 35-year-old former Ayr and Stranraer winger, who took over Craigmark in the close season, faces the acid test tonight (Wednesday) at home to on-form Muirkirk.

‘Mark hit back from 2-0 down in midweek to beat Irvine Vics 3-2 with goals from James Lamont, Stevie Tan and Ryan Connelly.

And they kept up their hot form on Saturday by crushing Saltcoats 5-1 with Tan, Connelly, Ally Boyle, Kevin Adam and Darren Boyd on target.

Caddis, who leads ‘Mark to Maryhill on Saturday, revealed: “This is my first job but myself and Andy Bell have a plan and want to compete at the business end of the league.

“I made a mistake in my first game at Girvan when we were depleted by 10 bodies. We lost 4-2 and should have changed shape but I won’t make that mistake again.

“We are slowly getting players back but I came on at half-time against Irvine Vics and played 90 minutes at Saltcoats – the only problem is we’re struggling to get a strip to fit me!

“The club have been brilliant and given me everything I have asked for so hopefully we will see the rewards this season.”

AUCHINLECK sit just behind unbeaten leaders Kilwinning and Darvel at the top of the Premier Division, after surviving an early scare against Troon.

Trailing at the break to a fourth minute Sam Jamieson goal, they hit back through Bryan Boylan and sub Keir Samson’s header to scramble a 2-1 win.

In midweek, Talbot beat Rob Roy 2-0 with goals from Mark Shankland and Samson.

Talbot head to Kilbirnie tonight and entertain Blantyre on Saturday. Troon have a home double against Rob Roy and Clydebank.
