Fire-hit takeaway set to take off at airport

- RYAN THOM

A takeaway is set to rise from the ashes of a devastating fire as it takes off at a new venue.

Scran at the Station will touch down at their new home next week after being burnt to a crisp in the horrific blaze at Troon station.

The hugely successful takeaway- not even open for a year before the blaze will return less than three weeks after the inferno gutted the business and their hard-working team.

On Tuesday eager fans will be able to return for more of their tasty grub as they move from the railway to the airport.

Launching in a huge hangar near Prestwick Airport, the new and improved Scran will take flight.

Owner Kyle Smith has told of his delight at being able to make such a swift return after a turbulent few weeks.

The former manager of the Buf in Prestwick said:“In the aftermath of the fire we had to think fast on what we could do. When I put a post on Facebook to let everyone know I was contacted by a lady called Michelle who runs Taste Buds over at a Prestwick Airport Hangar.

“She got in touch with us and gave us the option to use their facilities to operate.

“We made up a promo video which looked like something out of a film to let people know we will be back- it has been an incredible turn around.”

Launching from his mum Pamela Main’s kiosk at the station nine months ago, Kyle took on the reins of the new night kitchen.

The food proved an instant hit with foodies from all over Ayrshire and beyond flocking to try incredible burgers, box deals and sweet treats.

Kyle watched on in shock with his mum as the kiosk and Scran burned to the ground on Saturday, July 17.

Last week we told how Pamela and hairdresser Claire McGhee at the station told passengers to run for their lives as the blaze took hold.
