Intreprid trio’s Three Peaks Challenge

The founder of an Ayrshire-wide organisati­on dedicated to improving the mental health of men scaled new heights to help fund the service.

Robbie Muir, 32, along with his two pals - Scott McIntyre and Adam Gibson - successful­ly negotiated a Three Peaks Challenge to raise funds for Release Ayrshire.

Over the course of one weekend this month (August 19-21), the intrepid trio scaled Goat Fell in Arran, Ben

Lomond and completed the task by climbing Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the UK.

Robbie said:“It was hard and tiring, but it was good. We completed it over the Thursday, Friday and Saturday and, thanks to all our donations, we managed to raise over £1000.

“It’s looking very good fundraisin­g wise and it’s been great to raise awareness because that was another goal of ours.

“Funnily enough, Ben Nevis wasn’t the hardest, Goat Fell was.“

The intrepid trio completed their marathon challenge and have the following stats to boast about:

Roughly 12 hours 28 minutes of active walking more than 76,000 steps taken4,277 calories burned andRoughly 40 kilometres walkedNow the funds will go towards Release Ayrshire’s vital work in the community.

Release Ayrshire is a‘first-step chatting platform’dedicated to supporting men and kids from anywhere in the county who are currently going through tough times. It was establishe­d almost three years ago.

Robbie, of Auchinleck was prompted to start Release Ayrshire after a spate of tragic suicides over the course of one weekend in which there were three in Cumnock alone.
