Maybole bypass now open
The Scottish Transport Minister officially opened the £29m Maybole bypass on Monday.
Jenny Gilruth along with local people were the first to drive the new road before it opened to general traffic later in the afternoon. Work on the construction of the 5km carriageway began in May 2019 and is now complete.
The new road will separate local and strategic traffic, relieving congestion and improving road safety in the town as well improving journey time reliability on the A77, which links Cairnryan to Glasgow.
Also attending were project contractors Wills Bros and members of the local community from Maybole Community Council and the Maybole Bypass Committee.
