It’s good news on the jazz front!

Now that Covid restrictions have been relaxed for the hospitality sector, Ayr Jazz Club will resume its current programme on Friday February 11 when they welcome back a well-known Edinburgh Jazz Band, Ian Boyter and his Joys Of Swing. Like many bands, swing to the pandemic and retirements from the jazz scene by older member musicians, Ian’s band has undergone some changes in personnel.

With Ian on reeds, Mike Daly on cornet, Dave Watt on keyboard, Tommy Evans on bass, the band is joined by Bill Jones on trombone and Danny Flaherty on drums. The band feature an eclectic mix of New Orleans, Dixieland and classic Swing jazz and are very popular on the East coast and around the country.

Though the music for the evening commences at 7.30, the club will be holding its delayed AGM at 6.30pm.

Please note that the venue is now The Fairfield Hotel, Fairfield Road, Ayr.
