Vanand bike smash cause delays

A carriagewa­y on Ayrshire’s busiest road was closed on Friday afternoon following a road traffic smash between a van and motorbike.

The A77 southbound was closed to all vehicles with police attending the crash.

Traffic Scotland reported that there had been a road traffic collision, near Coodham, just outside Symington.

Road users reported huge delays on the stretch of road and drivers were urged to use an alternativ­e route.

Traffic Scotland’s website said: “A77 southbound is currently closed at Coodham due to a road traffic incident.

“Road users are advised to use an alternativ­e route and allow extra time for their journey.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “We were made aware of a crash on the A77 southbound between Kilmarnock and Symington, involving a van and a motorcycle around 12.40pm on Friday, January 28.”
