Talk of the town from our social media

Louise Gunning had to install sensitive cameras in her two-year daughter’s bedroom so she can keep a lookout for rats who were roaming her property.

I lived in Ravenscgroft years ago and had a problem with a wet patch on the living room floor. The water was coming up through a crack in the concrete and Shire housing did nothing. I gave my house up because of it.

Darren Turner

Rehome a ferret from SSPCA and they will soon clear off. I kept getting them and field mice and no longer have the issues.

Mary J Ferguson

Louise, my brother stays in Ayr and he had an awful bother with rats. You could hear them in the cavity walls. Thankfully it’s sorted now but it was terrible.

Ellen Thompson

I would die. I hate rats. Bulldozers have moved in to flatten an historic town house at the bottom of Ayr High Street as part of plans to transform the town’s disused riverside into a public events space.

Diane Ferguson

Time they regenerated the council; push them all out and start from scratch, because they, like the High St, are not fit for purpose.

Reinhardt von Hof

There is currently no plan or even the faintest understanding on how to regenerate Ayr.

Jimmy Millar

The council gave free parking at Christmas time saying it would draw shoppers into the town thus helping revitalise the High Street. Don’t suppose they could change plans and make this site a free car park to draw shoppers into the town?

Tributes were paid to Ayrshire’s ‘Mr Tennis’ Jan Collins MBE who died aged 92.

David Wallace

I remember playing against him at Symington in the Ayrshire league 25 years ago. I thought (stupidly) that this old guy must have been brought in as a last resort.

He was so good that he didn’t have to run, knew exactly where to place the ball (my backhand). What struck me was his generosity in victory and passion for the game. Thanks Jan.

Pamela Mcphail

So sorry to hear this. He was brilliant with our children in Symington.
