Phoenix night to pay tribute to MacColl
Ayr Phoenix Folk Club have a special treat in store for music lovers next month.
For Jimmy Ross and Finlay Allison will take centre stage for a night to celebrate the work of the great Ewan MacColl.
A club spokesperson said:“Jimmy and Finlay, following their great presentation of the life and times of Pete Seeger back in 2019, return to Ayr Phoenix Folk Club.
“Ewan was a major figure in the Folk Revival as singer, songwriter, collector, playwright and socialist activist.
“He introduced generations to traditional music via his recordings and books, and his powerful songs, including the famous Radio Ballads. Jimmy and Finlay will present in song, story and pictures a celebration of his life and legacy. Another fascinating night is assured.”
The event takes place at the Ayr Ex-Services Club, Academy Street, Ayr, on Tuesday, March 1.
The audience is asked to attend at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Pay at door tickets will cost £9. Phone 01292 280075 to reserve seats.
