Newly weds to have a paw-some big day!

Couples can tie the knot with pets by their side

An Ayr-based pet chaperone service will travel to the ends of the UK to ensure couples tying the knot post-pandemic can enjoy a paw-some day with their furry friends by their side.

Woof Woof Weddings, run by Jennifer Sharp from Dunure, offers soon to be married couples the chance to include their dogs, cats, rabbits and even ponies in their big day celebrations.

Animal lover Jennifer, who is a former dog show judge and luxury boarding owner, set up the business after helping to plan a family member’s wedding in which the bride dearly wanted the attendance of her beloved pet.

From there Woof Woof Weddings was born and now offers different packages with services including pet collection and transportation, a visit to the grooming salon, accessorising with bow tie or flower, and liaising with the photographer to capture paw-fect meow-meries on the day.

Jennifer said: “Choosing a pet chaperone allows the couple to solely focus on their day. It lets them enjoy every minute of it, knowing their precious bundle is being loved and cared for by someone they truly trust.

“It means the bride and groom have no stress, worries or disturbances throughout their day - their pooch will want for nothing while they are with us.

“We travel all over the UK. We are very happy to travel from John o’ Groats and even to Land’s End if required!”

Jennifer says she has been asked to chaperone many different pets including dogs, cats, ponies and even birds.

“This is when we need to be realistic and review whether or not the request is feasible,” she said.

“Our primary focus when offering our services is always to ensure the pets we chaperone remain safe and enjoy being part of the day without being unduly stressed, therefore dogs tend to be the main request, as they love to be included.”

Now that weddings are back with a bang following restrictions placed on them during the pandemic, Woof Woof Weddings are looking forward to attending wedding fairs including the Scottish Wedding Show, taking place at the SEC in Glasgow this weekend.

Jennifer said: “Like all businesses, Covid had a massive impact on our business. The past couple of years have been tough.

“[But] we are loving being back in the swing of things!

“Bookings are looking good, and hopefully being present at the Scottish Wedding Show will mean a further increase in business for this year and also 2023 and 2024.

“We love this show and wouldn’t miss it for the world. It’s always busy, the atmosphere is great, and it’s just a great day out for us all.

“I just love what I do. It hardly feels like work when you are part of such a happy occasion!”

The Scottish Wedding Show returns to the SEC, Glasgow from 19-20 February 2022, bringing together more than 200 of Scotland’s top suppliers to give happy couples inspiration for their big day.
