Thought for the week..

Have you done much thinking this week? When I was a Girl Guide, February 22 was Thinking Day when we thought about Guides around the world. It helped us to focus beyond our own small corner, even if just for one meeting in the year. The truth is that we have all been doing a lot of thinking over the last few months. Thanks to the news we are no longer as ignorant of as many countries as we once were. But news footage is fickle. National struggles, Covid and the state of the planet can all be ousted from the headlines by a pop singer, a football match or a touching story about a dog. They entertain rather than inform and they certainly don’t cause us to feel compassion.Perhaps we should listen to the news more carefully, looking out for issues to pray about. The Bible says,‘Pray continually.’ God, who knows our hearts, hears and answers prayer. (see 1 Thessalonians 5:17 in the Bible)
