Super Ayr have the bottle
An Ayr United superfan is getting the drinks in – after sponsoring the squad’s WATER.
George Robertson, who volunteers in the club shop, has pitched in with the unique backing.
And the bottles – named‘Honest Water’ – are set to quench the thirst of players between now and the end of the season.
George, 58, explained:“I’ll always take out player shirt sponsorships but when I heard we were looking for a sponsor for the water, I thought this was a great way to help.
“The cost of water for the first team on training and matchdays is something we don’t think about.
“So I spoke to Tony Burrell at the local Tesco and he was great in sorting out a deal. And it tops it off perfectly that the brand is called‘Honest Water’!”
Tesco also threw in some free fruit and veg for the first team.
United commercial boss, Martin Tocker, added:“George is a fantastic supporter of the club and we were thrilled when he stepped forward with this kind offer.
“Our thanks go out to both him and the folks at Tesco for making this happen.”
