Trio of teen actors to take centre stage
Young performers will step on to the stage next month alongside TV and West End stars in a musical theatre extravaganza.
Three budding theatre stars from Ayr and Prestwick will share the stage with EastEnders and Cats star John Partridge in charity Glasgow Philharmonia SCIO’s stellar returning production Movies to Musicals.
This all singing, all dancing theatrical show, taking place on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 at Dunfermline’s Alhambra Theatre, brings a night of your favourite musical and movie soundtracks performed by a live orchestra, kids cast, musical theatre cast and artists from London’s West End. And joining BBC Celebrity Masterchef winner John Partridge and bringing their talent to the forefront are 12-year-old’s Darla Dempster, from Ayr, Antonia Micallef-Eynaud, from Alloway, and 16-year-old Beth Donaldson, from Prestwick.
Darla, who is in her first year of performing Movies to Musicals (M2M), said:“I feel like I’m living in my best dream right now; doing what I love, the cast are all so talented, everything is super professional and I already feel like I’m making great friends. And with the guidance of [M2M producer] Ross and Rebecca I feel like anything is possible.
“I can’t wait to perform in the shows in March with all the musical theatre superstars.”
Antonia said:“Since joining M2M, I have met, laughed and learned so much from so many dedicated and inspirational people!
“They love doing what I love doing and I can’t wait to be on the stage in March for everyone to see it.”
Beth added:“I joined the kids cast in 2020, and I’ve absolutely loved every minute. I can’t wait for our shows on the 12th and 13th of March. We’ve been rehearsing some incredible
numbers and the talent in this cast is just amazing!”
Theatre goers can expect songs from Legally Blonde, Grease, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, School of Rock, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables and many more.
Glasgow Philharmonia has given thousands of young performers opportunities for free over the past 10 years and continues to make waves in the performing arts industry.
