Hub tribute to iconic boss Ally

A lasting tribute was unveiled to the legendary Ally MacLeod at Somerset Park on Saturday.

Ayr’s most famous manager is now firmly part of the new Somerset Hub, with a plaque dedicated to his memory outside the building.

The touching memorial (below) was officially unveiled prior to the Queen of the South game by Ally’s wife Faye, daughter Gail and son Andy (above). United historian Duncan Carmichael recalled memories of the great manager’s time at Somerset during a stirring speech, before a tribute poem read by veteran fan Jim O’Neil.
