Council consider pregnancy loss pledge
South Ayrshire Council are being urged to improve support for staff experiencing pregnancy loss by signing the Miscarriage Association’s Pregnancy Loss Pledge.
Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock MP Allan Dorans is calling on council bosses to commit to signing the pledge to ensure employees are supported through tough, and often traumatic, times following a miscarriage.
The pledge ensures staff feel able to take the time off they need and encourages a supportive work environment where people feel able to discuss and disclose pregnancy loss.
Allan Dorans MP is now pushing for South Ayrshire Council to follow in the footsteps of Fife Council.
He said: “The Pregnancy Loss Pledge is a fantastic initiative by the Miscarriage Association which improves support for parents who experience miscarriage.”
A council spokesperson said: “We recently received information about the Pregnancy Loss Pledge and it is currently being considered.”
