Heavenly property up for sale

- ABI SMILLIE

A former church is on the market and it’s got a heavenly price tag to match.

Maybole Baptist Church, in the town’s Carrick Street, is a red sandstone building that is up for sale for offers in excess of £45,000.

The former place of worship dates back to 1914, opening on October 30 of that year -- just months after the Great War started.

The church, which is being marketed by Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, has not been used for services for around two years but remains fully fitted.

And it could be made into a stunning family home or perhaps office space, subject to the relevant planning applications and approval.

Entry to the property is via an arched doorway. The accommodation on the ground floor comprises of; vestibule, nave, church hall, office and W.C facilities.

A kitchen, store room and boiler room are situated on the lower ground floor. The interior of the main church hall boasts high ceilings with gorgeous dark wooden beams.

And plenty of natural light floods through the building via the tall feature glass windows.

Shepherd Partner Kevin Bell said: “The building offers scope for alternative uses subject to planning and in view of the recent opening of the new Maybole by-pass and ongoing multi-million pound town centre regeneration project, we expect much interest to be generated in this rare opportunity.”

Offers in excess of £45,000 are invited. Interested parties should contact the sole selling agent on 01292 267987.
