Gaming law graduate is the real ‘Slim Jadey’
A law graduate has told how she’s become a massive online hit - playing computer games from her bedroom.
Jade MacIntyre streams footage to thousands of followers while playing Call of Duty, the world’s best-selling video game franchise.
And she’s even gone full-time as a pro gamer after becoming the first Scottish woman to partner with Facebook on their live streaming platform.
Jade, of Ayr, gained her Scots Law degree at Strathclyde University before Covid hit. But her days as a legal eagle have been put on hold after she sprouted wings online.
The 24-year-old revealed: “Growing up with three brothers, I used to play computer games a lot.
“But then Covid and lockdown came along and I found myself playing again to pass some time.
“I was messing around with some live streaming and, before I knew it, quickly started to gain followers.
“I never thought this could be a potential career but my eyes have really been opened to a different world.”
Jade has been making money from her online channels - where she is known as ‘TheRealSlimJadey’ for the past 12 months.
And her partnership with Facebook is helping to propel her to a massive audience, with more than 3.5 million minutes viewed on her page in the last year.
She said: “I’ve made more money doing this in the last year than if I’d been a first-year law trainee.
“I said to myself that I’d give it a year and see where it went and so far, so good.
“Maybe people stumble across my stream and see I’m not your average gamer playing Call of Duty and that’s what works for me.
“I can be quite edgy and like the banter with people tuning in so it’s all good fun.”
Jade added: “I started out playing in a corner of my dad’s office before setting up in my own place and things have obviously taken off a bit now. We’ll see where it goes but I’m just happy enjoying the experience at the moment.”
