Stand with Ukraine by making a donation
Over recent weeks, I have received countless emails from constituents extremely concerned about the war in Ukraine.
I share their horror at this situation and unreservedly condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Along with my colleagues in the Westminster and Scottish Parliament, I have been continually pressing the UK Government to do all it can to support Ukraine, specifically and importantly, for the Government to waive visa requirements for Ukrainians seeking refuge.
The best way people can help, if able to do so, is by donating to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
The appeal provides food, water, shelter, healthcare, and protection to vulnerable Ukrainians.
You can donate to the DEC appeal by telephone on 0370 6060900, or £10 donations can be made by texting SUPPORT to 70150.
Recently, I have had a particularly
busy period in Parliament and the constituency.
I asked a number of oral and written Parliamentary questions, including against the proposal to lift the ban on foie gras and fur imports and spoke in important debates, including the Nationality and Borders Bill and the Police Bill which will restrict the rights to protest.
I was also delighted to attend the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal event in Parliament, and the Reclaim the Night Protest in Ayr.
This took place on International Women’s Day, and also one year on from the murder of Sarah Everard, which reignited calls for more to be done to tackle violence against women.
It was a privilege to walk in solidarity with many others, to help reclaim the night.
While we can all now enjoy greater normality in life as covid restrictions have eased, we are currently seeing a rise in case numbers in the constituency and across Scotland – so please continue to follow the remaining guidance to help keep everyone safe and well.
