Oattes so simple
I agree with much of the Alex Oattes’ letter in the Post last week but one paragraph in particular sticks out like a sore thumb and needs to be challenged.
Not unusual that an SNP member blames Westminster for many of the problems faced by Scotland, including 10 years of Tory austerity, Brexit and the pandemic.
No mention of 15 years of SNP controlling the powers devolved to Holyrood, including economy, education, health, justice, rural affairs, housing, environment, equal opportunities, consumer advocacy and advice, transport and taxation.
The performance of many of these are nothing short of disgraceful and no amount of pointing the finger of blame South should excuse the SNP of their responsibilities but unfortunately this is all they do.
I have never voted Conservative in my life, I am ashamed to say I voted SNP once for tactical reasons that the party have since used mine and other voters who followed suit as a mandate that “the people of Scotland want independence”.
I absolutely do not and due to the woeful, diabolical performance of the current SNP/Labour administration in South Ayrshire who do not listen to the majority, I will be voting tactically again and breaking my habit of a lifetime and voting Conservative or Independent. Bill Mclellan, Ayr
