BULLY: WE ALL STAND UNITED

GAFFER HAILS HIS AYR BATTLERS

- STUART WILSON

Lee Bullen reckons Ayr’s squad is coming of age in its battle to beat the drop.

The head coach (left) insists successive draws – in which United have come from behind – are proving their battling qualities. And he believes the character in his dressing room will prove a key ingredient over the run-in.

Bully told the Post: “It’s not just the last two games that we’ve shown resilience – I’ve seen it in this group since I walked through the door.

“Even a point at this stage can be huge and the last two results have felt like big ones. So we know the kind of pressure that can lift with a victory.”

Ayr welcome Inverness on Saturday continuing the search for a first win at

Somerset in three months. But Bullen insists the statistic is not worrying him.

He said: “There’s a far bigger picture. We’re as frustrated as the fans but we’re showing great character to dig out points and that really pleases me.

“This squad is maturing and if we can keep the spine, I’m positive about what lies ahead in the next couple of years.”

Bullen added: “It’s in our own hands at the moment. We know that Dunfermline, who have only won five games all season, will probably have to win three of their last five to go above us.

“That’s not to say they can’t, but we need to make most of our advantage.”

Sam Ashford returns from suspension for the visit of Inverness.

Tomi Adeloye will soldier on with his foot injury but Ben Dempsey is ‘touch and go’ to return from his thigh injury before the end of the season, while Blaine Rowe has returned to Coventry following his hamstring strain.
