Easter Holiday fun for all the family

Families looking for something to do in Ayrshire over the Easter Holidays can sign up for some fun for all.

East Ayrshire Leisure has released a programme of activities the whole family can get involved in -- with many of it free of charge. It’s all happening in and around the Cumnock area from now until Monday, April 18.

At Barony Sports Village you can flip over some gymnastics fun on a Tuesday and Thursday -- with pre-school gymnastics for 3-5year olds at 1.30pm. Payable sessions cost £6 per week (2 sessions) and for older kids there’s a gymnastics camp at 2.30pm (£12 per week, 2 sessions).

On Wednesdays and Fridays kids can try something new with multisport at 4.30pm, followed by Kids Club, where children can be let loose from 6pm, both activities are £3.50 for 5-11 year-olds.Sessions can be booked by calling 01290 427291.

You can also visit the Baird Institute and take part in Matisse’s Magical Trail, running until Saturday, April 16 (during normal opening hours). There’s also special afternoon Art and Explorer sessions at 1.30pm on Friday, April 15, where the explorers are sent on a secret mission with Michaella. You can even explore your creative side with Make like Matisse! From 12-3pm, you can create your own artworks inspired by the exhibition. These sessions are FREE and there is no need to book, but spaces are limited for the Explorers session.

The Baird institute is closed until Friday, April 8, but it’s all systems go thereafter.Mobile units will visit Cumnock, New Cumnock, Fenwick, Sorn, Drongan, Catrine, Ochiltree and Muirkirk. On Saturday there will be a family fun day at Woodroad Park, with a circus skills performanc­e, bushcraft skills, woodland arts, fitness challenges and much more.
