Academy pupils walk and give for Ukraine

- ABI SMILLIE

Before breaking up for the Easter holidays, youngsters at Carrick Academy put their best foot forward for Ukraine.

The Interact Club of Carrick Academy, sponsored by Rotary in Alloway, organised ‘Walk and Give for Ukraine’ which saw pupils and staff making five circuits of their new astroturf, while filling buckets with donations for Ukrainian refugees. Pictured above are S5 and S6 pupils, led by Interact Club President DJ Alexander and Rotary in Alloway Youth Convenor, Wallace Galbraith, holding Ukrainian flags as they started the last circuit of the Astroturf. The new campus for Carrick Academy, which will incorporate Gardenrose, Cairn and St Cuthbert’s Primaries, is now underway and will hopefully be completed in time for the start of new terms in August 2023.
