The Organist Entertains Series

-

The Organist Entertains returned last month for the next 35 weeks.

Over the first two months there will be a rare opportunity to hear and compare four different organs in local churches before the series returns to Ayr Town Hall and the‘Rolls Royce’ Lewis pipe organ there in June.

There was no organ concert on Easter Monday (April 18) but concerts will return on Monday (April 25) where Andrew Thom will play the Allen organ in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Fullarton Street, Ayr, where he is Director of Music. And on May 2 the international organist and all-round musical entertainer Gordon Cree will play the Allen organ there.

On May 9, the series moves to St Columba Parish Church, Midton Road, Ayr, for four concerts starting with Alan Kitchen from Wellington Church, Glasgow, followed by Kevin Duggan from Dunblane Cathedral on May 16.

David Hamilton, of Strathclyde University Organist, will play on May 23 and John Turner, Freelance Recitalist from Glasgow, on May 30.

All concerts are priced at £4, though some willingly give £5, which helps give the visiting organist a modest fee.

The Organist Entertains series is arranged by Fort, Seafield and Wallacetoun Community Council in conjunction with the Royal Burgh of Ayr Organist, Matthew Hynes.
