Ayr’s future matters
In the course of a local election I would prefer not to comment on the election activities of others.
So let’s try and remind ourselves this is an election by the people of Ayr and for Ayr’s future.
It is not a staging post for the pathetic headbutting between national party politicians be it about “partygate”, a Scottish Independence referendum or whatever though these issues will be and should addressed at the appropriate time politically and as programmes for national political parties.
What is questionable is the nonsense of party politicking for a local election and identified and magnified by one of the so called national parties driving round Scotland in a large bus pushing national personality politics when people in Ayr are struggling to put enough petrol or diesel in their cars to get to work, to get kids to school or to look after family in need of care. And they have a cheek to refer to build a case for its election on the back of a cost of living crisis for which Westminster and Holyrood Governments are responsible and culpable.
Take the increase in council tax as an example .
Their only joint achievements has been an “A” for economic incompetence which has resulted in the cost of living hurdles we have to jump.
Let them get on with their internecine and fabricated headbutting without getting us involved and let others with a life experience and their hearts and minds deployed on behalf of their fellow citizens in Ayr get on with the job of correcting the shambles they have created.
